The blaze started at around 1:15 a.m. More than 4000 acres had burned by 11a.m.   Banning is about 90 miles east of Los Angeles and 17 miles northwest of Palm Springs in Riverside County.  Sad news; three USFS firefighters were killed battling this blaze and two others are critically injured.
